Readers will recall when the Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union [CEBEU] met President Maithripala Sirisena about a month back, he approved the Least Cost, Long Term Generation Plan [LCLTGP] where coal generation was included. Strangely the present news item says ‘the PUCSL approved 242 Mw of Major Hydro, 215 Mini Hydro, 1389 Mw of Solar, 1205 of Wind, 85 Mw. Bio –mass, 4800 of Natural Gas [LNG] 330 Mw of furnace oil and 105 Mw Gas Turbine to be added to the electricity generation system in the long term 20 years’. No mention has been made on Coal Generation
